I haven’t posted or even commented on here in ages. (A lthough I do read at least a few posts a week, I promise!) So I figured I should put something together.
I picked up a Junghans Form A as a graduation present to myself. More shots below:
Smoked sapphire caseback
9ish mm thick IIRC
And the money shot. It wears a little larger than its 39mm diameter would suggest due to being nearly all dial, but I think it works alright on my 6.75" wrist.
It’s got a really neat slightly concave dial that is of course impossible to photograph, but overall I think it’s a solid everyday watch that works well in any casual to business casual setting. I might also go for a diver at some point to scratch that particular itch but I’m pretty happy with this for now.
Volvo
Yes, I’m reusing the same photo from last year
Not too much to say I don’t think. It remains a really comfortable and reasonably fast dd that I’m still happy with. I’ve taken it up to Vermont and down to South Carolina and it’s a great road trip car (those seats!) for four people assuming everything fits in the trunk.
It hasn’t broken down once, which is more than can be said for any other car I’ve ever had, although it will need brakes relatively soon. Tires too if we get much snow this winter. Neither of those are too expensive for these though.
I’m planning on clearing up my dad’s headlights and doing the brakes in the next few weeks so I’ll try to remember to take some photos for here. I hope everyone’s been able to stay safe and reasonably sane over the past few months!

That watch is gorgeous.

That’s a very nice looking watch. I’m thinking about buying an Apple Watch next but have always had traditional watches.

I’ve thought about for a while too, but I’ve never been able to pull the trigger. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s just because I’d lose plausible deniability in whether or not I saw some people’s texts.

My sister just got one, and she loves it. Especially because the series 3 the sweet spot has been hovering around 160. If only they worked for andriod.

I just picked up a clean series 2 with a few extra bands for under $100. I have tons of watches, but this seems to be the only one I wear these days. I was pissed at Newegg for not replacing my DOA HP smartwatch with the brown band with one with a black band (they said that they wouldn’t even though it was exactly the same price); if they had been reasonable I wouldn’t have bought an Apple Watch.
I haven’t mastered it or customized it as much as I’d like (I want a nixie tube watch face like I had on the iPod nano 6th gen that I used to wear as a watch), but I defini tely like it. I’d prefer to have a series 3 or newer, but at the price I couldn’t complain.

The thin bezels do make the face look larger than one in a 39mm case. Very nice.

My issue is similar I don’t like being too connected but the health features could be nice. There’s rumors the next version will be able to detect panic attacks possibly before they happen which is something I would pay for with mine.

Nice, I’m currently waiting for the series 6 to come out. I read some rumors that it would have mental health monitoring features regarding stress levels and detecting panic attacks which is something I would be willing to pay for with my severe anxiety.

Those are some pretty impressive capabilities; I’d be willing to pony up for that. Having accurate BP monitoring would be a great thing as well if they can figure that out. I know that the only accurate way to measure it is to stop blood flow, so they’ll have to come up with something else. I did buy one watch that said that it could monitor BP and it told me mine was fine even when I knew it wasn’t. Then I put the watch on a screwdriver and it had almost the same BP as me (I guess all of those times I sliced myself with a screwdriver it was not my blood but the blood from the screwdriver itself..)

I’m hoping the rumors are true and y eah I think blood pressure is a tricky one.
